Bushey: Tree safety inspection and habitat assessment

The site: Clay Lane Education Centre, Bushey, Hertfordshire.

The brief: To complete a Tree Safety Assessment of the site and report. The trees at the site are of higher risk due to the utility company’s busy Environment and Education Centre at Clay Lane which welcomes over 6000 school children each year.

Our solution: Arboricultural consultants from Maydencroft undertook a Tree Safety Inspection of Affinity Water’s site at Clay Lane. A comprehensive report was drawn up categorising tree works into priority groups to focus budgets on those trees that required the most immediate attention. This was accompanied by clear maps to aid the site manager and provide consistency for future inspections. In addition, Affinity Water were keen to enhance the management of the site for wildlife, so recommendations were also made on how areas could be improved, such as small-scale native species planting, pollarding and coppicing around the wetland areas.

The result: Maydencroft tree surgeons were appointed to undertake the recommended tree surgery at Clay Lane, ensuring the safety of visitors.
