Green infrastructure

We believe that Green Infrastructure (GI) should seek to enhance the value of landscapes. This can be done by improving amenity, and through ecological enhancements which result in increased natural capital, public health improvements and community wellbeing.

Our experienced landscape architects take an integrated approach to land use management, and work closely with our in-house consultants in ecology, forestry, arboriculture, estate management and environmental management.

We also work alongside a range of built environment professionals, such as architects, civil engineers, archaeologists and drainage engineers. This collaboration is key to delivering multifunctional landscapes and green infrastructure.

Green infrastructure can be incorporated on all kinds of projects. GI itself is described as the network of natural and semi-natural features, green spaces, rivers and lakes within and between our towns, villages and cities, and can include:

  • Town parks
  • Open spaces
  • Play areas
  • Playing fields
  • Gardens
  • Verges
  • Ditches
  • Ponds
  • Rivers
  • Brooks
  • Streams
  • Hedgerows
  • Trees
  • Woodlands
  • Grassland and meadows

It can sometimes even include pedestrian, cycle and equestrian routes.
