Ross started his career as a professional athlete, signing his first pro contract with the Milton Keynes Lightning Ice Hockey Team in 2002. After a successful sports career representing his country and winning seven domestic championships, Ross decided in 2009 to step down from full-time sport to pursue a career in arboriculture. Ross quickly progressed in the industry and worked as a manager for an Arb Approved Contractor for 5 years before continuing his development as a project manager in the utility sector. Ross joined Maydencroft as a contracts manager at the beginning of April 2020
