Some of our Consultancy team members recently attended the Forest Research Trees Outside of Woodlands (TOW) surveying course.
Georgia, Assistant Forestry Consultant; George, Assistant Arboricultural Consultant; and James, Senior Arboricultural Consultant, had a fantastic experience learning essential skills in the beautiful Edinburgh countryside. The scenic location provided an ideal setting for their training, allowing them to transition seamlessly from classroom discussions to real-world applications.
They had the opportunity to survey lone trees, small groups, and even small woodlands in the area. Throughout the week, they engaged in hands-on workshops that equipped them with vital surveying skills. Learning to assess tree health, measure height and diameter, and identify various species was challenging and rewarding. These skills will benefit them in conducting Trees Outside of Woodlands (TOW) surveys and enhance their daily work in forestry and arboriculture.
Overall, the team felt well-prepared and excited to apply what they learned as TOW surveyors. From assessing tree health to identifying species, they are ready to put their new knowledge into practice.
