For Affinity Water

Tree survey, mitigation and monitoring

Maydencroft was commissioned by a major water utility company to carry out a BS5837:2012 tree survey and deliver a report to inform the layout, design and construction of an additional reservoir at Chaul End.

Mitigation of potential damage to historic features

The existing reservoir site adjoins an area of ancient semi-natural woodland. Our Consultants identified a number of historic, cultural and ecologically valuable features such as veteran trees, mature oak woodland, historic wood bank features and ancient coppice stools. By recording the location, species, dimensions, age class and condition, our Consultants were able to recommend a suitable method for protecting both overground and underground parts of the trees. Our Consultants will help to guide the management of trees in relation to construction until the works are complete.

Advanced technology to record data

A combination of GPS, to provide an exact location of trees, and accurate measurements taken using advanced laser technology, supported by comprehensive arboricultural knowledge, was entered into a bespoke tree management software by our surveyors on-site. This enabled the creation of tree schedules which allowed our Consultants to generate maps to inform the development plans around these valuable features, ensuring their longevity in the landscape.
