A detailed investigation to determine the cause of decline of two trees in a high value residential development.
Arboricultural detective work
We were given the challenge of trying to discover why two relatively recently planted, pleached ornamental trees failed to establish in a striking podium-level garden, in the hope of identifying liability for their replacement. Our consultant designed a bespoke, phased methodology for assessing the trees’ physiological status and attended to inspect the trees and their environment.
The mystery quickly resolved
A short visit and some well-targeted investigations allowed us to infer the most likely reason for the trees’ demise, while collecting sufficiently detailed evidence to support this conclusion without the need for further expensive tests and assays. The client was able to demonstrate that liability for the costly replacement of the trees lay with the installer, rather than themselves as subsequent managers of the garden.
