Biodiversity enhancement plans for grasslands

For Affinity Water sites near Manningtree in Essex, we compiled a suite of biodiversity enhancement plans, which led to refreshed plants and species in these grassland areas.

Collecting and analysing data
Our client’s sites were predominantly grassland, with boundary hedges and mature trees. So we began the biodiversity enhancement project by using online and environmental records to analyse data from various sources. We also completed field visits, noting habitats and species of particular interest, and any potential issues for future management of the area.

New trees and wildflower meadows
A comprehensive plan was then compiled, which was designed to direct the site management for the next five years. The suite of improvements we recommended were successfully implemented, and included tree planting, hedge restoration and wildflower meadow creation.
