Invasive Species Survey and control for giant hogweed

Our experts worked with our client to control and ultimately eliminate giant hogweed from one of their key sites.

Control and eradication
During a routine tree safety inspection, our client discovered that giant hogweed had spread from adjacent land. So they commissioned us to survey its extent on site, implement immediate control and ultimately eradicate it within five years.

Survey, mapping and treatment
We provided a certified surveyor to map the extent of the giant hogweed on site, and a qualified technician to treat the species. Following this, we delivered a plan for the ongoing management and eradication of the weed.

Our work meant that the plant was prevented from setting seeds. We used a variety of control methods, including the severing of tap roots next to the water, and spraying plants away from the river with a non-persistent herbicide. We’ve continued to monitor and control the site in order to completely eradicate the giant hogweed.
