Walled garden path construction

For this Capability Brown-designed formal garden, we laid pathways which were elegant, yet strong enough for vehicles to use.

Straight lines and heavy goods
This stunning five-acre garden is surrounded by an 18th century wall. Our brief was to lay paths along the original pathway routes, which could be used by the public, but also as an access by heavy goods vehicles.

To achieve the best result, we excavated very deep foundations, then brought them back up to ground level with good cambers. We then used top grade granite dust for the service dressing for a perfect finish, which enhanced the straight lines of the walls.
