Cycle path widening on The Alban Way

We cleared and widened a 12km cycle path, to a very tight timescale.

A clear route ahead
The Alban Way is a cycle path in Hertfordshire, that runs along the route of the former Hatfield to St Albans railway line – and we were asked to carry out vegetation clearance along its entire length.

To meet a tight deadline, we put two teams to work on widening the path. Selected trees were felled, sided up or had their crowns lifted, and all branches around lamp columns were removed to create more light. We created a one metre verge on either side of the path for long term maintenance – and the cycle path now has a clear route for its entire 12km.
