Construction of 30m of gently sloping woodland steps

We custom-built a flight of steps of around 30 metres in height, for a woodland footpath leading to the Grand Union Canal in Hertfordshire.

Constructing a more gradual slope
Our first job was to dismantle and dispose of the existing steps. We then graded the soil to hide the original line, and constructed a new flight of steps on a new, more gradual slope.

We custom-built and installed approximately 30 metres of steps, with a connecting boardwalk section that led into a short section of timber-edged granite path at the bottom.

Better for health and safety
The finished project alleviated the council's health and safety concerns over existing dangerous steps, by providing a long lasting and practical solution – making this busy path safer and more user-friendly.
