A boardwalk made from recycled plastic and wood

We designed and built an elevated walkway for a wet and muddy part of a popular hiking path.

182 metres of boardwalk
Our client invited us to supply and install a 182 metre length of walkway along a particularly wet section of the path on the Chess Valley Walk (a ten mile trail through the Chilterns).

A recycled plastic substructure and wood on top
We designed and constructed an elevated walkway. The substructure was built from recycled plastic on a layer of woven geotextile membrane, to prolong its life. The walk boards (decking timbers) were pressure-treated softwood to give the impression of a wooden boardwalk.

From being a near-impassable trail, this new structure has made this section of path an attractive feature of the walk.
