For the RSPB

An accessible, sustainably-made pathway

For this wildlife-rich nature reserve, we built a new path using sustainable methods and materials – making it more accessible for the local community.

A haven for birds
This wetland area beside the River Lee is the RSPB’s only nature reserve in Hertfordshire, and home to an array of wildfowl, waders, bitterns and wildlife.

Recycled materials for a better result
After being commissioned to lay a new pathway around it, we decided on a recycled aggregate – tarmac planings – and used a sustainable construction method to bring it to life. The result allowed easy access for mobility vehicles and wheelchairs, opening up this beautiful space for more people to enjoy.
