Tree Survey & Arboricultural Management Plan: Tarmac

The client: Tarmac

The site: Quorn Estate, Leicestershire

The brief: To undertake a comprehensive Tree Survey to BS5837:2012 standard, covering all trees around the house, pleasure grounds and parkland. The scope of work included for recording the accurate location and details of every single tree, tagging every tree, creating a series of maps and tree schedules, and producing an Arboricultural Management Plan.

Our solution: The whole estate was surveyed by a two-person team of arboricultural consultants with their Lantra PTI qualification, using a Trimble TDC-100 handheld GPS device loaded with topographic survey data. In total the survey recorded and tagged around 3000 trees with recommendations made for remedial works and more general arboricultural, ecological and landscape management. All information was uploaded onto CAD drawings supported by excel spreadsheets.

The result: The information gathered from the comprehensive survey is being used to initiate works required to secure the safety of the site, and to inform the broader plans for the estate.
