Fawsley Estate: Protected species surveys for walled garden restoration
The client: Fawsley Estate Settlement.
The brief: Protected species surveys were required as part of a project to restore the Grade II* kitchen garden complex at Fawsley Hall.
Our solution: Regular site meetings were held with the Fawsley Estate team and Natural England to guide our client through the survey process and ensure that surveys were completed within the project deadlines.
Ecological surveys for the following species were completed:
Building inspection for bats, hibernation and dawn surveys,
Badger surveys, licence application and sett closure,
Great crested newt Habitat Suitability Index (HIS),
Reptile presence or absence
All survey results were compiled into clear and comprehensive reports.
The result: The surveys enabled the Fawsley Estate to successfully gain planning for their project whilst protecting the natural heritage of the site.
