Chess Valley Walk: walkway
The site: The Chess Valley Walk is a 10 mile trail through the Chilterns following the River Chess from Chesham to Rickmansworth.
The brief: To supply and install a 182 metre length of walkway along a wet section of the path to the South of Sarratt Bottom, adjacent to Frogmore Meadow SSSI.
Our solution: Maydencroft Limited designed and constructed an elevated walkway. The substructure was built from recycled plastic on a layer of woven geotextile membrane to prolong its life. The walk boards (decking timbers) were pressure-treated softwood to give the impression of a wooden boardwalk.
The result: From being a near-impassable trail, the new structure has made this section of path a feature of the walk.
