For Tewin Bury Farm

Restoration of a classic listed landscape

For this Grade II listed parkland, we helped secure funding for restoration, bringing grazing back to the land.

Helping a historic park
Our task was to bring the Grade II listed parkland surrounding Tewin Water House, Hertfordshire, back in to good management – while staying faithful to Humphry Repton’s 1799 design.

As part of the project, we produced a management plan. This explored financially sustainable ways to enhance habitats for wildlife, and to improve the general environment.

Funding and fencing
Funding was secured through an Environmental Stewardship scheme and an English Woodland Grant, and we carried out the necessary fencing, clearance work and tree surgery. The grassland sites on the land are now grazed by our own rare breed English Longhorn cattle.

“We would recommend Maydencroft to any farmer looking to create a profitable business in the modern farming world.” Ivor and Vaughan Williams, Tewin Bury Farm.
